Kinda impressive with the number of swearing in the movie. This is the show with the most ‘f*ck’, ‘mother-f*cker’, ‘d*ck’ and many other different vulgar words in the script. Especially during the first half hour of the show, you can’t get past 3 sentences without those words. Sometimes you even hear it few times in a single sentence! Lol. But that didn’t really bother me. It was somewhat a nice comedy. Funny with an averagely good plot. Sad to say, towards the last 20 minutes or so of the show, it suddenly turn from funny comedy to stupid comedy. The kind of stupid comedy that just makes me roll my eyes and wish I haven’t wasted my time watching it. Everything just becomes unrealistic and it feels like they’re just trying too hard to be funny towards the end.
It took me a while to recognize Channing Tatum when he first appeared on screen, because he looks like this. My jaw dropped. Yup. Shocking. Thank God it was only the first 5 minutes of the show. Then he was back to looking hot with his signature crew cut. Together with his co-star, Jonah Hill, they play Officer Greg Jenko and Officer Morton Schmidt who goes undercover in a high school, trying to break the case for the drug dealings. Frankly, I think these two lack chemistry. I mean, there are many shows where two male leads have to work together to create great chemistry on screen, may it be as friends, as co-workers, as partners or as brothers. And there are quite a number I can name who nailed it. However, these two are NOT one of the pairs that nailed it. Far from it actually.
I actually thought they didn’t do much justice to another ’21 Jump Street’ which is a series aired from 1987 to 1991, also of the genre of police procedural. And that series starred none other than heartthrob Johnny Depp, who pretty much did a fabulous job. This 21 Jump Street (2012) would have been a pretty good show IF they didn’t screw up towards the end and make it into a silly comedy instead of a funny one, because seriously, the first 3/4 of the show is really not bad. Pretty entertaining. Oh well, some movies make it, and some don’t. 😉
