Perfect | Pink (SuilynnAngel Cover)

So, my first ever official cover. And I just had to go and pick a song that is a little too big for myself. Oh well. Doesn’t really matter. πŸ™‚ My heart was set on this song being the first song I’d cover on my page simply cause this song has been my theme song for as long as I can remember. What better song to kick start your YouTube channel than your very own theme song right? Even if its a little too hard to cover. Teehee!

Pink’s ‘(Fuckin’) Perfect has been the top played song on my Always Keep Fighting playlist. It has gotten me through some tough times in life. And hopefully, it has and will continue to help pick people all around the world up when they are feeling beaten down by life, and get them to always keep fighting.

Despite a few hiccups, I’m generally quite happy with the cover. Won’t deny that hearing myself sing on a video still gives me a slight cringe attack. Oh well! πŸ™‚

Last day of 2015. And here I am, quietly and comfortably snuggled on my couch at home at 11.10pm. Boy, it has been such a year. The good, the bad, the ugly, the pretty. But now that I have some time to look back, I realized the good definitely outweighs the bad, and the pretty outweighs the ugly.

Learnt so much about human nature this year. Things that makes me smile, things that makes me frown, things that makes me smirk and things that causes about 1000 snarky/sarcastic remarks to race through my head. πŸ˜‰ One of the hardest but best things to master in life is to not take anything too seriously. Disclaimer : This does NOT mean to take everything as a joke. πŸ˜› But rather, learn to let go whenever needed, and laugh it off when its warranted. πŸ™‚

After more than a year and a half of no proper exercise routine since I started working, I’ve started taking up swimming again mid of this year. Nothing too high impact like the gym classes I used to go to, but I figured, 3-4 days of 1 kilometer swim per week is a good start. Am super glad I’m slowly shifting my lifestyle back to a healthier and fitter one. Though its gonna be a long journey to get back to how I was 3-4 years ago. Hm.

I’ve also decided to officially start my YouTube channel after having fun creating my trial Christmas cover video. πŸ™‚ If there’s one thing this year has taught me, it would be that life is too short for us to live u to other people’s expectations. Hence, I’m continuing my drums lessons. Planning to get a set of e-drums soon. Also planning to pick up a new language. Still a toss between French of Spanish. Hm. πŸ˜€

As we’re entering the new year, and I’m getting to my 30th birthday in approximately 3 months, I’ve learnt that the most important thing in life is to do things that makes you happy. Nothing else really matters. You need to be able to make yourself happy before you’re able to make others happy. And hence, I’ve decided that I’m gonna fill 2016 to the brim with things, activities and people who makes me genuinely happy and makes me look forward to life everyday.

I mean, what is life if you have nothing to look forward to? Β πŸ˜‰

Happy 2016!

YouTube Christmas Greeting

So it’s been almost 2 years since I first thought of starting a proper YouTube channel. I never really got to it, mostly due to… *cue drumrolls*…. procrastination. But it was also because I was a little nervous about putting myself out there to be seen. So I dragged and delayed it. Until this year. This year, I decided not to send out Christmas cards. Instead, I decided to do a cover of a Christmas song dedicated to all my family, loved ones and friends. Also a good way for me to test the waters, and see if I really enjoy making covers.

So here it is, a cover of Judy Garland’s ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’. πŸ™‚

Gotta say, its quite an experience. And I do enjoy the whole process of learning the song, videoing it, then editing it up to become a proper YouTube vid. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll do it for real the next time. πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

I Miss Blogging.

I really do. And it feels good to be back. It’s been more than a year now that I have not been blogging. Let me just put it out here that it is all due to work……. and a little bit of laziness after work… and also a whole lot of procrastination. *sheepish smile*

Hence, my new year resolution of 2016 is to go back to blogging. And hopefully stick to it this time, as blogging is really good for the soul. πŸ™‚

My Very Own Evans RealFeel 2-Sided Practice Pad!

Finally! I got it! My Evan RealFeel Practice Pad. Been looking all over for this but still couldn’t find it. In the end, I decided to order it from Australia and have Ben carry it back for me.

Now, I can finally practice rudiments on it! πŸ™‚IMG_2785The slightly sad thing is that it was cracked at one corner when I got it. The courier service probably dropped it during delivery. 😦 IMG_2751Nonetheless, I’m still happy I finally got the pad! πŸ™‚ However, knowing myself, if there’s a chance for me to get another one, I would get it, cause I want a nice one without cracks. Lol! It’s just me and my weird habit. If its something I like, I don’t mind spending shitloads just to get it from halfway around the world or to get another one that is 100% perfect even when I already have one which is slightly cracked. Lol. πŸ˜‰

Maleficent (2014)

Maleficent_posterBeen anticipating the release of this show since I saw the trailer a couple of months back. Gotta admit, despite the big name Angelina Jolie, I was afraid that it would turn out to be a total flop like the 2010’s Alice In Wonderland. I mean that show had Johnny Depp, but it was so bad, I cringe everytime I think of it. Maleficent, I would say, is one of the best Disney cartoon to have been remade. Considering how the storyline is a little different from the original cartoon movie, I guess remake is not really the correct word to use? Oh well. The concept and altered storyline of Maleficent is superb. Love the twist of the story. And to be a little more cheesy, so many moral values to learn, not that it matters to me. πŸ˜›

I was a little surprised that Angelina Jolie would want to star in a fantasy show like this one. But after watching her performance in the movie, there’s not a single doubt why she took up the role. Seriously, nobody in this world suited the role as well as Jolie did.Β angelina-jolie-maleficentShe was not born to be Maleficent. She IS Maleficent. That is how awesome she is in this role. Perfect. I couldn’t find a single flaw in it. And I’m really not a Jolie fan. Never was. But after watching this? She made me a fan of hers. Haha! Love how they spin the movie to show that Maleficent is not the actual villain, and deep down, she’s actually a really kind and loving person.angelina-jolie-maleficent-innocent How a heartbreak and betrayal made her seek revenge, only to have her regret it after she has cooled off and tried to save the day. Again, absolutely love the story. πŸ˜€

Princess Aurora was mostly portrayed by Elle Fanning.Β elle fanning-maleficentFanning certainly looked the part. Another thing I loved about this movie is how they made Princess Aurora into a princess with an admirable character and not like the flimsy princess-y one in the cartoon.
Fun fact : Princess Aurora as a toddler was played by Jolie’s on daughter, Vivienne Jolie-Pitt, reason being, all other toddlers cried when they saw Jolie in her Maleficent getup. And she is absolutely adorable in the movie as toddler Princess Aurora! πŸ™‚

One character I never expected the story to focus on is Diaval, the raven shapshifter.Β sam riley-maleficentSam Riley’s role of Diaval is just a minor one, but it still manages to catch the attention of the audience. I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds his quiet nature and faithfulness to Maleficent endearing.

The unexpected and actual villain of the movie is Aurora’s father, King Stefan. Ex-lover of Maleficent who betrayed her and cut of her wings.Β King-Stefan-MaleficentHe is evil. I actually enjoyed how they made him the bad guy instead of Maleficent. Like I mentioned before, love the twist. πŸ˜‰ Sharlto Copley did a really good job as a crazed king. Believable, at the very list. Haha!

The characters in the movie that actually kinda annoyed me were the 3 fairies.Β Maleficent-3 fairiesSo annoying. I really preferred the 1959 cartoon version. Those fairies were likable. These are just…….. ugh! And really, it doesn’t help to have Imelda Staunton to play the pink fairy. I still can’t get her out of my head as Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.Β fairy_umbridgeSo really, it’s kinda hard to like them no matter how pleasant they are supposed to be in the movie. Haha. Besides, like I’ve mentioned and will say it again, they’re more annoying than pleasant. πŸ˜›

Overall, I love this show. I know this will be one of those movies I’ll watch time and again. It’s just that good. πŸ™‚ Great storyline, great characters (generally) and a great feel to the show. πŸ™‚ I’d actually recommend this version to pre-teens more than the cartoon version cause at the very least, this teaches us that we don’t need a prince’s true love to solve all our problems. We just need family and friends who truly love us to get through life happily. Cheesy, I know. πŸ˜€

P.s : For the record, I didn’t mention the prince because his character is negligible in this movie. He probably appeared for 5 mins tops. He’s more like an extra of the movie than the cast. Haha! πŸ˜›

Transformers : Age Of Extinction (2014)

kinopoisk.ruWhat a disappointment. Despite the rave reviews from some friends of mine, I find the 4th installment of the Transformers movies a total let down. First up, storyline. Personal opinion? Bad. Barely any substance. I think Michael Bay tried to cram in every super idea he has in this movie, and it kind of backfired. There were 2 or 3 climaxes that made me think that the show is going to end, so I was getting ready to leave, but later realized there’s still about an hour or more left of the show. Hmph. And really, the storyline in general is just kinda boring. The visual effects were great, no doubt. Everything else? Meh. First time ever, a Transformers movie left me feeling like the movie is 6 hrs long when its only around 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The cast. Not that I dislike Mark Wahlberg or if I am a fan of Shia LaBeouf (which I am not), but I seriously prefer LaBeouf’s performance as the main character in Transformers as compared to Wahlberg’s. With LaBeouf, the movie feels fresh. However, Wahlberg portraying a overprotective and over-possessive father with cheesy lines just made me cringe, in quite a number of the scenes.Β transformers-age-of-extinction-mark-wahlbergHe really should just stick to macho-tough guy-ish characters, cause he’s good at that. Here, I’m not sure if its actually bad casting decision by the Michael Bay or bad script that made the movie worse.

As for the female lead, there’s Nicola Peltz, who plays the daughter.Β Nicola-peltz-transformers-age-of-extinctionShe is pretty and young, but she is no Megan Fox.transformers_megan foxI actually feel bad for the leading ladies who replaced Fox in the Transformers series after she was dropped from the cast cause, even though I don’t really like Megan Fox, I will be the first to say that she has set the bar very high as the leading female character in the Transformers series. Rosie Huntington who starred in Transformers : Dark Side Of The Moon, as well as Peltz here, pales in comparison to Fox, who played Mikaela Banes, Sam Witwicky’s first girlfriend. A tough chick who rise up with courage in the face of danger. Too bad for Huntington and Peltz that their characters does not really possess such characteristics. Haha. Gotta say though, Fox’s onscreen chemistry with LaBeouf, did help to make the movies more….. ‘interesting’. Lol! πŸ˜›

Then there’s the boyfriend. Oh goodness gracious. The boyfriend.Β Jack Reynor-transformers-age-of-extinctionTogether with the father and daughter, these 3 have some of the cheesiest lines in the history of the Transformers film series. It was funny at first, but towards the end, I just rolled my eyes. Haha. Gotta say though, Jack Reynor who portrays this character, is ‘not-so-hard’ on the eyes. Haha. He’s not in my top 10 hottest Hollywood stars list, but he’s not too bad, as far as the cast in this movie goes. Lol! But that’s where the positive comments end. I have nothing else good to say about him or the cast. 😦

Even the Autobots and Decepticons weren’t that interesting this time around. It’s just kinda flat. This round though, we have something new. Dinobots!Β optimus-prime-age-of-extinctionI don’t know whether to be impressed or amused. It like Jurassic Park, Transformers style. πŸ˜‰ Just because both are big movies, it doesn’t mean that combining both is a good idea. Haha!

Overall? I can’t wait for the movie to end after an hour in the cinema. I think this is a case of trying too hard to make a hit, but it ended up as a miss. Of course, this is only my personal opinion. There are tons of people who loves this show. πŸ™‚ I for one, don’t think I’ll be getting a copy of this to re-watch during my free time. If I want to watch a Transformers movie, I have the first 3 shows, and that’s good enough. πŸ˜€
