So it’s been almost 2 years since I first thought of starting a proper YouTube channel. I never really got to it, mostly due to… *cue drumrolls*…. procrastination. But it was also because I was a little nervous about putting myself out there to be seen. So I dragged and delayed it. Until this year. This year, I decided not to send out Christmas cards. Instead, I decided to do a cover of a Christmas song dedicated to all my family, loved ones and friends. Also a good way for me to test the waters, and see if I really enjoy making covers.
So here it is, a cover of Judy Garland’s ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’. 🙂
Gotta say, its quite an experience. And I do enjoy the whole process of learning the song, videoing it, then editing it up to become a proper YouTube vid. Maybe, just maybe, I’ll do it for real the next time. 🙂
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
Finally! I got it! My Evan RealFeel Practice Pad. Been looking all over for this but still couldn’t find it. In the end, I decided to order it from Australia and have Ben carry it back for me.
Now, I can finally practice rudiments on it! 🙂The slightly sad thing is that it was cracked at one corner when I got it. The courier service probably dropped it during delivery. 😦 Nonetheless, I’m still happy I finally got the pad! 🙂 However, knowing myself, if there’s a chance for me to get another one, I would get it, cause I want a nice one without cracks. Lol! It’s just me and my weird habit. If its something I like, I don’t mind spending shitloads just to get it from halfway around the world or to get another one that is 100% perfect even when I already have one which is slightly cracked. Lol. 😉
FINALLY. A couple months back, I finally got the guts to buy myself a pair of drumsticks and enrolled myself to a drums class. Haha! I’ve always thought drummers are soooooo cool! And any females who play drums is pretty much awesome. Most of them anyway. Haha! Anyway, unlike the other instruments I play, drums is a little harder for me to pick up. Hence the need for proper classes instead of picking it up bit by bit like I did with the piano, bass and guitar. Those are melodic. They’re simpler, as compared to drums which goes solely on beats and groove. But I am super stoked! I hope by year end, I’m at least good enough to play some of the simpler songs well, as well as being able to improvise whenever I need to. 🙂 Fingers crossed!
Christine linked this video to my FaceBook page more than 2 weeks back. Absolutely loved it!
1) I really like Taylor Swift
2) I started picking up my guitar again and is loving it
3) It’s just such a cute fresh clip of the song being acoustically played
This just made me add ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ by Foster The People to the list of songs I wanna cover. Hee!
And for the record, Taylor and Zac looks so cute together here. Haha!
Finally started picking up my guitar again, for good this time. Started taking lessons again to polish the skills that I had left to rust for almost 10 years. Very happy to say that, I’m not so rusty afterall. Not that hard to catch up, but still a long way to go to reach really good professional playing. Heh. But its my passion. And I will persevere. =) Feels good to hold the guitar again, though the skin on my fingertips have started to harden and peel off. Gonna be like that until my fingers are used to the metal strings. Still, am happy and satisfied. Have even started making a list of songs I’m planning to cover! Hee! Hopefully it won’t turn out disastrous. Lol!
On a different note, I’ve started a new routine this year. New goals, new focus. One minor thing is to start swimming regularly. Tried to do that last year, but it didn’t last. This year, when I shared the idea with Alex, she said she herself wanted to pick up the swimming habit. So we’ve just started making it a habit to go swimming together every week. And so far, its been all good! =)
The other thing, is pretty major to me. Going back to church. Going back to God. Thanking God that, I have successfully attended church every week since the beginning of this year, 2012. Hard as it may be to start this new routine, waking up at 8.30am every Sunday, but as the weeks passed, I’ve started to feel it’s all worth it, to go back to God. =)
I remember writing bout 3 new interests that I’ve developed around more than a month ago. The first, photography. Am still halfway through saving to get a proper DSLR. The third, bowling. Did that for a while, but then kinda grew out of it. Not really, but I can’t do it alone. And not everyone can accompany you everytime right ?
But the second one, I’ve just recently took up as a hobby cum workout routine. Swimming. Really good. Something I can do with friends. But yet, I can do alone. And prolly won’t get bored of. And watching some of the lifeguards swim makes me even more excited and determined to brush up my swimming skills and be as cool and ‘gaya’ as them. They looked so damn professionally attractive when they swim laps after laps with beautiful techniques. I find the freestyle stroke exceptionally attractive. Both guys and girls who can do it beautifully seems to be more ‘gaya’ than the rest.
Mission : To improve my stamina in swimming. Then to train and improve my techniques of freestyle stroke. Gonna be one of the ‘gaya’ people in the pool. =)
Lately, been developing interest in 3 new hobbies. Well, erm, they’re not exactly new I guess. Two of them aren’t anyway. Think gonna take them up for real this time.
Have always been interested in that. Actually, was snapping a lot of pictures and planning to go professional until I suddenly got my iPhone. Started using the iPhone camera. Started being lazy to take out my nice digital camera. And so, for the past few months, this hobby kinda died. Done a little thinking, and maybe, I’ll pick it up this time for good. Plan the everything, start saving to get a DSLR camera, find out business rates in this field, etc etc. Am planning to turn hobby into part time job. Great idea right? =)
Have always loved swimming. Used to do it so often during my undergrad days. But since then, haven’t really touched the pool at all. Wonder if I still can remember how to swim. Hah! Anyways, got a new swimsuit, new goggles. So yeah, pretty much ready to jump into the pool anytime. Problem ? Its raining season now!!! Already postponed swimming twice! =.=”
3) Bowling (Now, this is new)
Considering he is a professional bowler, dad used to wish I like to bowl like him. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the interest last time. But lately, I’ve been bowling quite a lot, relatively speaking of course. And I’ve started to like the game. Hopefully I can keep this up. Tough, this is quite an expensive hobby to take up. =S
