Let’s admit it. Push-ups ain’t as simple as it looks. And many actually does it with the wrong technique. Even more surprising, some of the female instructors at my gym does it wrong too, which is kinda pathetic, cause they’re supposed to be instructors. You don’t get that title for nothing. And that’s why I don’t go their classes. I myself can’t perfect the ‘art of push-ups’ yet. But I’m trying. Haha. Sometimes, I get it right the first 8-10 times, then my strength fails and I fall back to the wrong techniques.
But here are some tips on doing push-ups correctly so that…
1) We don’t injure ourselves doing the wrong techniques
2) We work the right muscles
3) We look great when we do push-ups correctly! 😉
Ok. A little bit more info. Do not hitch the butt up. Do not drop the butt down as an illusion of lowering the body. The only way to lower the body while doing push ups is to bend the elbows!!! 😉 If it is a triceps push up, tuck the elbows close to the body. It it is a shoulders push up, the palms are supposed to be shoulder width apart. For chest push ups, the palms are placed wider than the width of the shoulders. And most importantly, make sure the body is always as straight as a plank. 😉
This is one thing we tend to forget. But it doesn’t mean we could simply eat anything. A healthy diet is the key. Starving will get you nowhere.
Looks easy, simple and so little. But trust me, you will feel it. Boy, will you feel it. *thumbs up*
Am gonna do these on days I don’t hit the gym. Hopefully, my plans and goals will materialize. 😉
One of the famous move in BodyPump and Body Step classes during the conditioning tracks for abs exercise. I knew it works the core muscles thorough and well, but well, didn’t expect so many other muscles to be involved. A perfect plank is one where the body is perfectly parallel to the floor. The butt must not be raised. The angle at the elbows is a 90 degrees. For those who has never tried this, it ain’t as easy as it looks. =) Never disliked it before, but has always remained neutral over this. Opting more for the bicycle crunch and sit-ups to workout the abs. But now, am gonna start appreciating this move more. Heh. Ou, as well as the side plank. =)
I saw her doing it in BodyPump class. Its amazing. Given most girls go with the Knee Push-Ups, including myself, and to see her not only on her toes, but doing Single Leg Push-Ups, its just a great motivation for me somehow. It looks really good, not to mention hot. And somehow, totally NOT masculine. Now everytime I feel like I wanna give up during gym classes, I picture the Single Leg Push-Ups and push myself on. Have kinda set that as one of my goals. To be able to that would be awesome. It’s definitely gonna take some time to achieve that, given the fact that I’m only doing Knee Push-Ups now. But, am gonna strive towards that. Guess I gotta thank God for letting me see that Single Leg Push-Ups on the first day that I started my strict ‘slim down & tone up’ plan. It’s really great motivation.
